Chicks, Books, and Race Day!

Once again, time has gotten away from me, but I'm adding a new post at last, so here we go . . .

In March, our chicks finally hatched. These are pictures of the kids holding the chicks in pairs. The chicks were sometimes a little "messy", and not everyone was thrilled to hold them, but they certainly were cute, and we were sad to see them go.

The first week of March was Read Across America Week. Third graders worked in pairs to recreate a book cover and write a summary of the book.

After months of staying inside for recess, we finally got back outside. You can still see the snow piles in the background, but judging from how many kids are not wearing coats, it was obviously a very warm day.

On another sunny day, we spent the last half hour reading outside. The girls decided to sit by Catie's tree and read and remember her.

And finally, Race Day. We couldn't have asked for better weather, or a harder working group of kids. It was a great day!
